Gravity (2013)

8/10

This review is for the 3D version. Gravity is a visual masterpiece, and has set the bar very high for the future of cinema. The movie is filled with many stunning continuous shots which immerse the viewer in outer space, and allows them to watch everything unfold as if floating right alongside the characters. This movie is best experienced on a large screen.

  1. Yeah, it was visually stunning, but they should have cut out 80 per cent of the dialogue. Also: in real life, Sandra Bullock would have been wearing a diaper. So the bike shorts? A little disconcerting. 7.5

    1. you're right about the diaper. I read a few astronaut's reviews for this movie to gain insight into its accuracy, and though some liberties were taken by the filmmakers, this film isn't a documentary, and its visuals blur the line between reality and art.

  2. True. And I guess the diaper would have been disconcerting in another way. Still!

I was also disappointed that she didn't fight a shark at the end.

If I was Cuaron, this would have been a different movie. 7.
